Business
Artisans Co., Ltd. works across five domains within Japanese traditional craft. Each business is named for a single word that captures the essence of its work.
ALISA
A 100% silk luxury apparel brand co-created with kimono artisans. We reconstruct the patterns and techniques living within kimono as modern wear, in collaboration with the artisans themselves. Every pattern carries its own meaning, named in kanji alongside its romanization (e.g. 青藍逍遥|Seiran Shoyo).
Kimono Lessons
A place to learn the culture of kimono through comportment. Beyond the technique of tying an obi, we share the meaning held within each pattern, and the structure of centuries of history living in daily gesture.
Craft Consulting
We walk alongside artisans and production regions to evolve traditional craft into the next generation's industry. Tradition doesn't survive by protection alone — we advise producers and businesses from the perspective of making it function as a business.
- Redesigning branding and product lines
- Strategy for overseas market entry
- Building structures to use artisan skill as IP and licensing
- Designing new channels — D2C, and B2B for hotels and spas
Web Design
Website production for makers, long-established houses, and craft brands — conveying a worldview. We design outward from the story behind the brand, shaping a presence that belongs to that business alone, never a template.
- Brand and corporate site design and production
- E-commerce sites and multilingual pages (English for overseas customers)
- Photography and visual direction
Lectures
On the current state of traditional craft, the practice of overseas expansion, and choosing a career. We speak in a range of settings — corporate training, municipalities, educational institutions, and conferences.
